BAND TO CHECK OUT: BLITZEN TRAPPER

Blitzen Trapper - Wild Mountain Nation
By: Matt Martin, Atlanta, GA
When you combine all the great influences from folk and blend it together with all that is great in experimental indie rock, you get Blitzen Trapper. Reminding me of a combination of Wilco and The Flaming Lips, the Trappers grab your attention when first hearing some of their popular tracks off of “Wild Mountain Nation.” For me, that was the title track, “Wild Mountain Nation,” that brought along those great country roots. At first listen you could possibly just find the folk that exists in the Trappers blood. With further listening, you will find that many of the songs take on a different twist by throwing in wonderful grungy, unpolished guitars and all sorts of sounds from left field. The thing that makes these guys so great is that they keep your attention by bringing you melodic songs that make you feel good and want you to keep listening.
If you don’t believe all that I have told you above, feel free to have a listen below. I have included a couple of videos as well to take a look at. If you haven’t already go check out their MySpace and Facebook pages. Also, if you are a Facebook fan, I have included a link to their band page.
